About Karen Ferrand Carroll
Karen paints her environment, capturing not only the visual beauty but also the emotional essence of her subjects. Falling in love with the diverse styles and beauty of art during a school field trip at the ripe old age of 8 Karen began painting. Her styles are ever changing as is her subject matter, blessed with the ability to see with the wonder and fascination so many of us out grow or put aside because 'it is time to grow up'.
A former instructor at the College of Micronesia, Karen has been involved in the art world for many years as both artist and voice of the artistic community. She chaired the Governor of Pohnpei’s Endowment of the Arts Program and co-chaired the Fine Arts Council of the Islands of the Federated States of Micronesia. Among her most notable commissions are portraits for the first President of Micronesia Tosiwo Nakayama , first Governor of Pohnpei Leo Falcam and Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, as well as works in private collections. She was the resident artist for both the Islands Echoes and P.MA. magazines.
Her works have sold throughout the Pacific Islands of Hawaii, Guam, the Republic of Palau, Truk, Pohnpei, Yap, The Marshalls and Japan was well as D.C., California, New York and Connecticut.
